Want To Experience Life In The Year 2071? Head To Dubai’s ‘Museum of The Future’

0

Everyone wonders about the future. What new technology would be developed, or how things would be different from the present? Keeping this in mind, The Dubai Future Foundation founded the museum, ‘’Museum of the Future,” which opened on February 22, 2022. The main idea behind this museum was to investigate and show how society can evolve in the future decades through science and technology.

It is described as a ‘living museum’ because it combines traditional displays, immersive theatre, and themed attractions, allowing visitors to gaze beyond the present and into the unlimited possibilities of the future. It serves as the headquarters for the city’s ‘Great Arab Minds’ program, which seeks to recognize 1,000 extraordinary Arab talents in critical sectors, contributing to a global intellectual movement.

Let’s learn more about this fantastic museum that looks into the future.

Design and Architecture of the Museum of the Future

The Museum of the Future, designed as an asymmetric torus coated in steel and glass, was named one of National Geographic’s 14 most stunning museums in the world. It’s a tribute to the designer Shaun Killa, who wanted the skyscraper to embody Dubai’s vision for the future.

The museum’s beautiful facade also distinguishes it due to its artistic usage of calligraphy in Arabic, which also serves as glass windows. Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej designed them to represent lines of inspirational poetry written by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.

What to Expect at the Museum of the Future?

Serving as a portal to the world fifty years from now, this museum of future Dubai will show how next-generation solutions, which include augmented reality and artificial intelligence, may improve our lives and strengthen the global economy. The core museum experience is divided into five chapters.

  • Experience life in a space station 600km above the Earth.
  • An augmented and virtual reality image of Dubai and humanity in 2071.
  • “The Oasis” provides relaxing adventures and a Sensory Room.
  • Learn about the cutting-edge innovations that exist today.
  • An interactive play area designed to encourage children through assignments and games.

Not only these, the more you explore the museum, the more intrigued and excited you’ll become for the future. Guests will have the opportunity to interact with the groundbreaking technology of the Museum of the Future. Each floor of the museum is planned as a large, immersive movie set brought to life by experienced storytellers, technicians, and imaginative artists. Topics covered include the future of space travel and life and the impact of climate change on ecology, health, wellness, and spirituality. Aside from groundbreaking breakthroughs, there will be special workshops and presentations by the world’s brightest brains.

Children aged three to ten can have an open-world experience in the Future Heroes setting, specifically created to help young people reach their full potential. Guests should also visit the viewing deck on level two, which is wrapped within the museum of future dubai ‘void’ and offers an in-person glimpse of the facade’s smooth inner shell and panoramic views of Dubai’s fast-paced metropolitan hub.

How to Go to the Future Museum?

The Museum of the Future is conveniently accessible via the following transportation options:

  • Dubai Metro: The museum is directly adjacent to a Red Line metro station. Once on the Red Line, exit at the Emirates Towers stop. A pedestrian walkway connects this stop to the museum. Direct transportation from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to the museum is simple. You need to go to Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 Metro stations, board the Red Line, and ride towards EXPO Metro Station. You’ll reach the Museum of the Future through this route without any hindrance.
  • Bus: Routes 27, 29, and X22 all stop at Emirates Towers. The quickest way to get to the museum from a well-known area like City Walk is to take bus lines 28 to Dubai Mall and then 29 to your destination. The attraction is around a 5-minute walk from here.

For detailed public transit schedules, please visit rta.ae. This will allow you to plan your itinerary effectively and make time to see additional tourist destinations. Alternatively, if you’re traveling by car, leave Sheikh Zayed Rd/E11 at exit 51. DIFC Gate Village and the Jumeirah Emirates Towers are two nearby sites. Do not shy away from taking help from Google Maps and the local authorities.

The Museum of the Future is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Every visitor, even those who receive free entry, must make a reservation in advance. The museum opened its doors close to the Dubai World Trade Center along Sheikh Zayed Road in February 2022.
