Everyone wonders about the future. What new technology would be developed, or how things would be different from the present? Keeping this in mind, The Dubai Future Foundation founded the museum, ‘’Museum of the Future,” which opened on February 22, 2022. The main idea behind this museum was to investigate and show how society can evolve in the future decades through science and technology.
It is described as a ‘living museum’ because it combines traditional displays, immersive theatre, and themed attractions, allowing visitors to gaze beyond the present and into the unlimited possibilities of the future. It serves as the headquarters for the city’s ‘Great Arab Minds’ program, which seeks to recognize 1,000 extraordinary Arab talents in critical sectors, contributing to a global intellectual movement.
Let’s learn more about this fantastic museum that looks into the future.
Design and Architecture of the Museum of the Future
The Museum of the Future, designed as an asymmetric torus coated in steel and glass, was named one of National Geographic’s 14 most stunning museums in the world. It’s a tribute to the designer Shaun Killa, who wanted the skyscraper to embody Dubai’s vision for the future.
The museum’s beautiful facade also distinguishes it due to its artistic usage of calligraphy in Arabic, which also serves as glass windows. Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej designed them to represent lines of inspirational poetry written by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.
